I was listening to LBC this morning (yes I know, but it is entertaining) and this story came up so I went googling around for it.
I think rather than further glorification it would have been better for the council to have put up some boards explaining the history of it and how Churchill was shot at.
Aha, I wasn't sure if the naming was deliberate or not, especially since I was told that this wasn't the original Sidney Street.
BTW, Churchill wasn't just "courting controversy" with his orders - there was quite an outcry at him turning up just to show his face.
